Inspirational Research Grants Now Open

The Inspirational Research Grant is now open for applications for 2025 grants.

Following the recent announcement at the TOGA ASM 2024, we are thrilled to open the 2025 TOGA Inspirational Research Grants. These grants are designed to fuel innovative research and improve the lives of those affected by thoracic cancers.

Established through generous philanthropic donations, TOGA’s Inspirational Research Grants aim to bridge the funding gap for thoracic cancer research. With less than 6% of research funding allocated towards thoracic cancers, these grants offer a unique opportunity to drive advancements in prevention, treatment, and patient care.

Partnership with ALK Positive Australia Inc

TOGA is proud to partner with ALK Positive Australia Inc. to offer a dedicated grant for ALK+ NSCLC research. This collaboration aims to empower researchers and provide them with the necessary resources to make a significant impact on the lives of Australians battling this challenging disease.

The recipient of the ALK Positive Australia and TOGA Inspirational Research Grant for ALK+ NSCLC will receive a $50,000 grant.

Grant Details

  • Amount: $50,000
  • Duration: Two years
  • Eligibility: Projects must involve consumer representatives.

The 2024 recipients have stated that grants such as the Inspirational Research Grant have provided a great opportunity for research projects, “TOGA continues to be a vital platform for collaboration among thoracic cancer clinicians and researchers. Their advocacy for lung cancer resources is essential for driving cutting-edge research”, says Dr Wasek Faisel from Grampians Health.

Additionally, at TOGA we strive to push research efforts further than we currently have. This is echoed by Dr Tracy Leong whose project is looking at defining epigenetic causes of immunotherapy resistance through liquid biopsies in lung cancer. “Immunotherapy is becoming increasingly important in lung cancer treatment. Our research focuses on identifying biomarkers of drug resistance and developing strategies to overcome it. The TRACKER project will be instrumental in supporting translational research efforts”, says Leong.
